Fascinated by the devil's island

During her stay in Käsmu, at the house of the Estonian Writers' Union, Sana Valiulina became fascinated by a small island: Saartneem of Kuradisaar (The Devil Island) as the Estonians call it. She decided to take one foto of Kuradisaar every day, searching of Tao, like the old Chinese did it in their numerous paintings of one single object.

When she asked the housekeeper Anne Liis why the locals call it so, her explanation was not romantic at all. If you walk from the beach to Kuradisaar over the stones (which is possible by low water) then you keep slipping and swearing 'Kurat' (which also means 'damn' in Estonian) all the time. Now we know that there are no demons at Kuradisaar. But there might still be witches of course.

She had to admit, that she was not the only person who had been inspired by Kuradisaar:
there was a painting of Kuradisaar even hanging on the wall in her room in Käsmu when she arrived.
