About HALMA

HALMA, the European Network of Literary Centres: HALMA connects literary centres of Europe, organizes intercultural exchange and allows actors of literary life – authors, translators, promoters – to experience the variety of different cultures. The Halma network creates alterable structures which promote dialogue and exchange between European regions. Within a framework of cooperations, events, and scholarships, Halma creates a forum for transnational encounter. Currently HALMA represents 26 literary institutions.

About the HALMA-LOG

HALMA organizes scholarships for writers, translators and promoters of literature. Each scholarship lasts for two months, and includes a grant holder’s stay in at least two different host countries. Usually grant holders spend one month in the first host country and then travel to a second one. The HALMA scholarship wants to enable and to deepen cooperation between the literary scenes of different European countries.
During their stays, the writers contribute to the HALMA travelogue.
